Business Administration - Finance
Graduation Year: 2009
My passion is extreme Bike Trials riding - the most visually and physically amazing form of cycling. I have taken my talents on the bike and the business smarts I learned at Sheridan and developed a career as a top Bike Trials performer in North America. I have also designed and built my own precision bikes, with support from Meta Bike (www.metabike.com).
Inspired by speakers at Sheridan’s Virox Future Forum in Spring 2009, I decided to promote my Extreme Trials Bike venture to the CBC TV series Dragon’s Den. I was chosen out of 500 candidates to pitch my business idea to the show’s resident investors in hopes of getting funding. The episode will air in September 2009.
Always very active, I became a top-ranked squash player in Ontario, but after eight years, I hung up my racquet to focus on BikeTrials. Working my way from beginner to elite skill levels, I have participated in 20 competitions over the past few years. In 2009, partnering with Meta Bikes, I held the first Trials competition at Toronto’s largest cycling event, the Bike Show, which attracted 50 riders from around North America. A highlight of my adventures was my performance with RIM and Rogers to promote the new Blackberry Flip phone in 2008. The year before, I teamed with ActiveTVNetworks to create CrankedTV, a program devoted to Trials Action 24/7. Performing at the launch of several cool nightclubs in North America was also very memorable!
Reflecting back, I can point to Sheridan’s Virox Future Forum as a huge turning point in my life. I think it’s a mandatory experience for any business student with ambition. I have learned the importance of understanding your life’s passion in achieving your dreams. Open your mind and learn as much about your passion and the opportunities surrounding it.
