Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning today unveiled a major new marketing campaign to not only attract students to its Oakville and Brampton campuses, but to also help them stand out from the crowd when they graduate and are ready to launch their careers. The Shine Brighter campaign, developed in partnership with Beakbane Marketing, focuses on developing and celebrating student creativity and achievements.
Core to the campaign is an initiative – unique in the sector - to build the Institute’s brand from the inside out using social media and the actual work and creativity of Sheridan’s students and faculty. Inspired by successful social media communities such as YouTube and Flickr, the Sheridan Shine Brighter community site goes further by allowing students to share not only visual content, but audio and written works as well. The site encourages students to collaborate and develops their creative and social networking skills.
Shine Brighter’s major elements include:
- The Shine Brighter social media community site – a platform to explore new and changing technologies, practice new skills and showcase the talents and accomplishments of our students, alumni and faculty (www.SheridanShineBrighter.com)
- A new website designed for ease of use and navigation (www.sheridaninstitute.ca)
- New creative look for advertising and publications such as the annual course calendar and viewbook
- A new tagline: Shine Brighter
The Shine Brighter online community will be a showcase for the talent and creativity of Sheridan’s students, faculty and alumni, providing them with a virtual playground in which to create, collaborate and share. “We want to engage our students by providing them with a platform in the digital world in which they’ll live and work,” says Janine Gliener, Director of Marketing & Communications. “It’s also a way for them to promote themselves to prospective employers.”
“Shine Brighter is more than just a marketing slogan,” added Gliener. “It informs Sheridan’s mission, which is to provide students of all ages with the knowledge and skills to thrive in a rapidly changing world. As an institution rooted in a history of innovation and creativity, Sheridan teaches students how to apply knowledge creatively, so that graduates stand out in their careers and experience more rewarding work lives.”
