The demand for skilled welders is growing in Canada, and the Sheridan Welding Techniques Program offers superior training and a pathway into the trade. Our welding program stands out for its excellent instructors, superior facilities and strong reputation among employers. You'll get a thorough, practical education in the most current welding techniques and theories, preparing you for a welding career with good pay, benefits and career prospects.

As with all of Sheridan's skilled trade programs, welding courses take place in a sophisticated setting that mirrors the professional workplace. You'll work with the most current technology, getting hands-on welding training and experience in shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW) and gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW).

Lessons for the Real World

In the classroom, you’ll study industrial practice in areas such as:
  • Metallurgy
  • Safety
  • Blueprints and construction documents
  • Layout and fabrication
  • Trade calculations
  • Welding theory

Students also learn how to conduct a job search, maintain proper work documentation, and communicate effectively on the job.

Sheridan instructors combine years of teaching experience with decades of professional welding practice. They provide lessons that apply in the real world, not just the classroom. Small class sizes ensure that you get plenty of one-on-one instruction and mentoring.

After earning your Ontario College Certificate in welding, you’ll be eligible to take up to three certificate tests through the Canadian Welding Bureau.

Sheridan Welding Techniques Program courses are held at the Skills Training Centre in Oakville, Ontario.
